Latest State Bank Officers Training Scheme (SBOTS)

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), being the central bank of the country, plays a critical role in formulating and implementing monetary policy, regulating financial institutions, and ensuring economic stability. To fulfill its mission and maintain excellence in central banking, SBP continuously seeks to attract and retain top talent through a structured and merit-based recruitment process. One of the most prominent initiatives for inducting fresh graduates into the system is the State Bank Officers Training Scheme (SBOTS).

This flagship program serves as a golden opportunity for young, qualified, and ambitious individuals who aspire to build a meaningful and impactful career in one of the most respected institutions in Pakistan. The SBOTS program not only offers a chance to work at the heart of the country’s financial system but also provides exceptional training and professional development.

What is SBOTS?

The State Bank Officers Training Scheme (SBOTS) is a structured recruitment and training program through which Officers (OG-2 Grade) are inducted into the State Bank of Pakistan. This program has been running successfully for years and has produced some of the most competent professionals who now hold key positions within the SBP and across the financial sector.

Recruitment under SBOTS is conducted with the utmost transparency and integrity. Selections are made strictly on the basis of merit, while also ensuring compliance with provincial/regional quotas as prescribed by the Federal Government of Pakistan.

Recruitment Process

The recruitment for SBOTS follows a multi-stage process, each designed to assess different aspects of a candidate’s capabilities.

1. Application Submission

Interested candidates must apply through the official channels, usually online via the SBP careers portal or through the designated testing agency. Applicants must provide accurate academic and personal information and ensure eligibility before submission.

2. Written Test

Shortlisted candidates are invited to appear in a written examination, typically conducted by a reputable third-party testing organization like National Testing Service (NTS) or another external agency. The test assesses candidates’ abilities in the following areas:

  • English Language Skills

  • Quantitative & Analytical Skills

  • General Knowledge / Current Affairs

  • Discipline-specific knowledge (e.g., Economics, Finance, etc.)

This stage is highly competitive and only those who perform well move to the next stage.

3. Group Discussion / Interview

Candidates who qualify the written test are invited for the assessment center phase, which includes:

  • Group Discussion to evaluate communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.

  • Panel Interview to assess subject knowledge, critical thinking, and motivation to join SBP.

The interview panel usually consists of senior officials from SBP and HR professionals.

Pre-Induction Training at NIBAF
